Tea Time

While living in New Orleans I developed quite a fascination for various types of tea and hosted my share of southern style tea parties.  I've been a coffee drinker since the age of thirteen, yet something about the balmy atmosphere of the Crescent City changed my perception of tea time and I spent quite a few afternoons indulging in the practice.  My house was located in the historic garden district and was very old by American standards.  My pride and joy was this lovely curio cabinet that displayed all of my elaborate glassware and specialty tea pots collected from various excursions to antique shops.

Not one to be completely traditional, my infamous tea parties always included an exotic dress code as my guests were subculture girls donning their best weekend frocks.  The hustle and bustle of everyday activities melted away as we would take a few minutes to enjoy a beautiful day and remind ourselves that there is so much elegance to be seen in the world if one just stops for a moment to take notice.

Our "Tea Time" style group is my homage to those blissful, cherished days.  This stretch twill top is delightful as a layering piece or worn as a set with the matching skirt.  The plaid accents are a nod to the ever so fascinating English high tea tradition, which on occasion, would replace our New Orleans cocktail hour tradition :)

This stunning piece looks fabulous when paired with the matching skirt.  Add the "Tea Time" pillbox hat and necklace for an over the top ensemble.
